?The 48ers and Their Influence on the Election of 1860?
Cartwright Gallery 1:30pm Saturday March 15, 2014
Kirt Barnett is a Fifth generation Texan, and a Veteran. A teacher of over 14 years teaching experience at both secondary and graduate levels, he enjoys sharing his love of history.
The program will be about the 1848ers - a group of European revolutionaries who immigrated to the United States in a particularly stressful time in our country's history and had a significant impact on the election of 1860. This had a direct effect on the road Texas and many other states took during the secession movement that led to the War Between the States.
