December 1, 2012 Living History Day at The Old Jail Museum
Re-enactors Bring the 1860s to Life
A DAY IN 1862
The Palo Pinto Historical Association along with historical living participants from Gone To Texasand the Civil War Center of Texas (CWCT) will be turning back the hands of time to a December day in the year 1862 at the Old Jail Museum Complex in Palo Pinto on Saturday, December 1st, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The public is welcome to observe or invited to take part in this total immersion event, where folks will participate as viable members of the pioneer community. You never know who may show up in town, perhaps a politician, a gambler, the schoolmarm, a buffalo hunter or outlaw. All types of society mixed and mingled on the Texas frontier and the 1860’s was an exciting time to be sure. An immersion event differs from a reenactment or Living History presentation in that the personages go about their usual day to day business, unaware of any time other than the one they live in.
Any persons interested in being a participant must be 21 years old or accompanied by parent or grandparent, and have contacted Sherry Whitaker @ 817-307-9813 or Tom Leach @ 817-453-8676 by Nov 15th for guidelines and registration. No participants will be accepted on the day of the event, without prior registration.
There is no charge to visit or participate, though donations to the Old Jail Museum Complex will be gratefully accepted and cameras are encouraged!
