SUMMARY:Community Conversation on Mental Health and Substance Use in our Communities
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a Community Conversation around mental health and substance use issues in Granbury\, Texas on Tuesday\, January 13\, 2015. While the event is being held in Granbury\, all communities in Pecan Valley Centers' service area (Erath\, Hood\, Johnson\, Palo Pinto\, Parker\, and Somervell Counties) are encouraged to attend. \n\n \n\nThe Department of State Health Services and Speak Your Mind Texas are working across the state to begin a mental health public awareness initiative by collaboration with local organizers to conduct Community Conversations around the state focused on teen and young adult mental health. \n\n \n\nWe know that when law enforcement\, schools\, the mental health community\, faith leaders\, businesses leaders\, and local officials work together\, there is great success. The purpose of these town hall-style forums will be to spark community dialogue about mental health and substance use\, remove the stigma often associated with mental illness\, and explore the steps that families\, schools and communities can take to improve mental health and remove barriers to treatment\, particularly among teens and young adults. \n\n \n\nThe audience will include teen and young adult support systems such as educators\, health professionals\, and parents\, as well as young people themselves. All members of the community who have a stake or interest in the welfare of teens and young adults are encouraged to attend. \n\n \n\nWe invite you to join us for a conversation and to help us spread the word to your colleagues\, clients\, students\, or other constituents that you feel may benefit from or add value to the discussion. Attached you will find an event flyer that can be shared through email and your web or social media sites. You can learn more about this free event and register here. We hope to see you there!\n\n \n\nCommunity Conversation\n\nJanuary 13\, from 7:00 - 9:00 pm\n\nGranbury High School Cafeteria\n\n2000 W Pearl St\n\nGranbury\, TX 76048\n\n\n\nRegistration is free and open to all community members: RSVP here
